AND IT ROCKED.
This past saturday, I celebrated my 29th birthday*. I had a little get-together and offered massive amounts of delicious foods (Tomato Anchovy pasta? Freakin' AWESOME), and my family and friends partook. I measure a party's success by the amount of leftovers, wherein lots of leftovers = FAILURE. I had very little leftovers to put away. SUCCESS!
Vesper, I promise that next time you come to DC, I will actually show you the sights IN DC, as opposed to forcing you to join me in my quest to eat at every restaurant on my list. But, damn, that raw beef was delicious!
* This is the second time I am celebrating my 29th birthday. It's an anniversary. Of sorts.
Second twenty-ninth? You youngin'! If I celebrated that way, this june would being the fourth time I'd … FIFTH time I'd be celebrating my 29th.Happy Anniversa-ithday!!!!!
Bon anniversaire!
Bouche, Charm, thank you very much. I was just telling Nicole that it doesn't seem right that I am 31 this year, without having taken a competency test or something for responsible adulthood. RIGHT?
happy um . . . anniversary! glad to hear your party was a success!
Happy 29th, again. If you want to feel old, think about how long you have been out of school, is it clost the amount of time you were in school. Yeah, old. I feel you.
But you are living life on the edge.
Thanks a whole lot, Budd. I was actively attempting to forget how loooonnnng ago college was and that my 10 year reunion is one short year away.
erin*carly, thank you! I think it was the tomato/anchovy pasta that really won the day. Hey, so have you heard about the Wash DC VOX meetup in June? You're going, right?
I was just thinking yesterday of how long I had been out of high school. I took the haitus for the military so college came later for me. You should go by the cracker barrel and pick up a rocker.
*cups hand over ear* Ehh? Wha'dya say? My hearing aid ain't workin' so good, so you're gonna hafta talk a little louder.
Sad thing is, i woke up this morning and my knees hurt. WHAT THE HELL?
Ew. You're an old woman. :DI really think their ought to be a test before anyone can pass into adulthood. I think you needs to be writing it up.
mo, I don't think Lorelei exhibits any behaviors of normal adulthood… at least not when she is with me! And you need to ask her for the name of that Korean restaurant with the awesome raw beef, I don't know what it was called but it beats any Korean food I've ever had in New York!!
Mo, and Mho (aka Vesper), the Korean place is called YECHON – and it's open 24 hours! Mo, it's on Hummer *heh heh, HUMMER* Road, off Little River Turnpike. That place is so awesome. The raw beef is killer!I AM AN OLD WOMAN! I just pulled 4 white hairs out of my head. Seriously, what the hell???
Oh! That place? = LURVE. I never seem to remember it's name. Everytime I gather people to go, I'm like, that 24 hour Korean place off of HUUMMMMMMMER. I too appreciate the name, and I do degenerate into an 8th grader.
BTW: the tomato anchovy pasta recipe is from the NYTimes. I modified a little: used lots more garlic (2 heads! on head mashed up, the other smashed then chopped). I am in search of high quality anchovy just to see if it would make the sauce awesome to the infinite power.
belated anniversary wishes to ya!
oh, i'm totally there! i've been helping sean a little with planning and trying to find a place . . . speaking of, i need to find out if he still needs me to check out "murkey coffee" in arlington. have you been there before?
I've never been to Murky Coffee, but looking at their website = happiness. Why? Because of CUPCAKES.
So is there a VOX Group all about the Wash DC meetup? I'm getting a little excited – it would be awesome to meet VOXers in the area (which is sad, considering you and I are practically next-door neighbors. Wanna meet up and get coffee and cinnamon bun at St. Elmo's one of these days?)
Murky is okay. I used to do group meet ups all the time there. They run out of a lot of pastries awfully quick though — I blame it on the George Mason kids. One check in its column is the fact that it's within spitting distance of a yummy Moroccan restaurant.
mmm, sweets. i'm not sure if there's a specific group, but i think there might be info posted in the general VOX Meetups group. i'm sure more info will be publically displayed as we get closer and have a solid place to meet.i'm totally excited to meet our area VOXers too . . . although after this weekend, i'll be less of a neighbor! i'm moving to north arlington – but i'll be taking trips down to DelRay for my favorite St. Elmo's often. π i'm actually moving about a mile from Hop's office. we should totally hit up some cinnamon buns and coffee – let me know when you're around. my schedule's a bit hectic, but not too bad after i move. π
